SHROOMS, Earl Queer and Squawk - all sound suspiciously like something you'd bung in a pipe or up your hooter, and all freely available to over 35,000 punters descended on Albert Square for the opening weekend of Manchester Food and Drink Festival (...worry not, it's only veg, tea and beer)

Have you been to MFDF? Did you make our gallery below?

It's the MFDF's eighteenth edition this year, and, having to pull their socks up following a rollicking year for food and booze in Manchester, have cobbled together a festival featuring no less than 60 events, 40 acts, 36 street food traders and, perhaps most importantly, 100 ales.

From big name chefs, such as Simon Rogan and Olia Hercules; world-class breweries such as Cloudwater, Runaway and 7 Brothers; to trailblazing food projects such as the Moss Cider project and a food/electro experiment, for eleven days the festival is doffing its torque to the region's rampant food and drink scene.

Find the full line-up from 10-21 October here and be sure to get stuck in with our MFDF: 7 Things Not To Be Missed.

Alternatively, we stationed our guy at the Festival Hub for most of the weekend so you can skim through this lot, pretend you've already been, and get cracking on that Bake Off binge you've been promising yourself.
