Late night kebabs never used to be this cool
TIME was, a late night kebab was something vaguely embarrassing, eaten while drunk, and ideally without bumping into anyone you know. So why were our feeds suddenly full of shameless kebab fans last week, all looking glam and downright proud of their midnight meat fix?
It coincided with the launch of Bab Bar – the new, late-night cocktail bar underneath Bab on Little Lever Street.
Like the original venue upstairs, it serves kebabs – and they're aeons away from the regret-flavoured doners eaten on the night bus.
These are 'kebabs worth sitting down for' made with locally-sourced produce and home-baked flat-bread. They've become so popular since Bab launched last November, that it made sense to expand into the space below the restaurant with this new bar.
Bab Bar is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5pm-2am (midnight Thursday). It's as much about the cocktails and music as the food. There are over 30 cocktails on the menu, and DJs play disco, funk and soul on Friday and Saturday nights.
The increased space means that they can offer private hire of the entire bar, and food and drink packages for large groups. So if you're planning a party, check it out. There's more info in their private hire brochure.
Meanwhile, make sure Bab Bar is on your itinerary next time you're out in the Northern Quarter on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. You'll find it on Little Lever Street, in the corner of Stevenson Square.
