HERE at Confidential we’re always looking for new ways to stuff our greedy guts, particularly during lunch times when eating options can get a little mundane.
For times when your one mile work radius offers little more than expensive pre-packed sandwiches, it’s good to know there are local companies out there willing to bring a bit of variety to your palette at no extra cost. One such company is Delhi 2 Go.
Dehli 2 Go food has a certain authenticity to its food that makes it difficult to place within the fast food category.
The first of a chain of Indian cuisine and fast food outlets, Delhi 2 Go is located on Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter. With the aim of bringing in lunch time trade, the deli counter of the joint will appeal to those who like to gaze indecisively into glass chillers full of salads and browze a menu full of curries, kebabs and the popular lunch time favourite of ‘rice and three’ – that’s three different types of curry served with rice for £4.20.
But if, like Confidential HQ, your office is further away than sniffing distance from the perfect curry, Delhi 2 Go is willing to go that extra mile.
Ordering in, one lacklustre lunch time, we were told so long as we spent over £10 in total, lunch could be delivered free of charge within a three mile radius in less than 40 minutes. Of course £10 wouldn’t even cover Gordo’s starter so everyone could rest assure that a seemingly extravagant lunch wouldn’t mean any extra expense incurred.
That said, you don’t necessarily need to order in the banquet we had. That would just be silly, right? Judge for yourself below:
Delhi2Go - a feast for the eyes and the belly
In no particular order we troffed our way through spinach and potato pakora, meat samosas, vegetable samosas, onion bhajis, pilau rice, mushroom rice, a mountain of naans, salad, lamb karahi, chicken tikka, seekh kebabs, chicken tikka kebabs and a litre bottle of Coca Cola. It fed more than ten of us to the point of bursting with plenty leftover and to quote Gordo “tasted better than This ‘n’ That” whose ‘rice and three’ we’ve always loved, just up the road from Delhi 2 Go on Soap Street. They’ve now got some healthy competition.
When it comes to food delivery, most people generally know what to expect – not a restaurant class meal or any fancy trimmings, but stodgy stuff-it-in junk that’s going to make them want to go on a low sodium diet.
But Dehli 2 Go food has a certain authenticity to its food that makes it difficult to place within the fast food category. Everything arrives hot and within 40 minutes, as promised. From the meat dishes, which were beautifully moist and tender, to the salad that clearly wasn’t just an afterthought, delivered food hasn’t been this exciting since the creation of Domino’s Two For Tuesday. And I know which one I’d rather order.
