EVERYWHERE does cocktails nowadays but few places do them as well as Be At One. This cocktail institution has just arrived in Manchester, after becoming a firm favourite in London where it has 20 bars at the last count. It's now open in Barton Arcade and is already carving a reputation for itself as a great place to go for high quality cocktails in a pretension-free atmosphere.
It's also a great place to go for a cocktail masterclass, as Confidential discovered when we descended on them last week. (Read about our merry exploits here.)
It's a simple but winning format. You all take it in turns to go behind the bar to mix yourself a couple of mean drinks, under the guidance of their expert bartenders. You can choose whatever you like from their vast menu, and they'll show you how to shake, smash, stir and pour like a professional.
Then, when you're all feeling a bit tipsy, they introduce the games – try the one-armed mojito race or the blindfolded woo woo-making. The fact that there's lots of delicious (and strong) drinks floating around means everyone gets into the party spirit.
It's fast-moving and funny, relaxed and interactive. It'd make a fab start to a birthday night out or a hen do (or persuade your boss to plan it as a team-building event). The classes last for 90 minutes and cost £25 per person. Visit Be At One Masterclasses for more info and to book.
And don't forget to enter this competition to win a cocktail masterclass for six people at Be At One. Just log in and click the red button to enter.
