PARTY season is here, and have we got some NYE parties for you...
THE HOUSE PARTY | Sound Control
Fancy a house party but without all the mess to clear up afterwards? You’re in luck, as The House Party - who have organised impromptu shindigs everywhere from London Bridge Railway arches to Kendal Calling - are hitting Sound Control. Previous artists have included the likes of Tim Burgess, Dave Haslam and The Horror: the perfect soundtrack for jumping on beds, rummaging through the wardrobes and gossiping in the ‘kitchen’. FUNKADEMIA | Mint Lounge
Funkademia may not be as renowned as WHP or the late Hacienda, but it has been going for 21 years - making it the longest-running club night in Manchester. It’s obviously doing something right. Promising ‘dance floor killers with absolutely no fillers’, Funkademia will be taking over Mint Lounge on NYE - no doubt for another sell-out edition so get in there fast.

HOUSE OF WAX | Mantra Warehouse
You can’t beat an eighteenth century Ancoats cotton mill for atmosphere, although those after a low-key event should probably give this a swerve. Music will be house, disco and techno - courtesy of Chicago DJ Marshall Jefferson aka ‘the father of house’ - and Honey Dijon, whose commissions include everything from Louis Vuitton catwalks to underground haunts in Tel Aviv.

PSYCHEDELIC FUNKRAISER| Hidden
If floating around in a tie-dye kaftan is more your thing, Hidden has the ticket. In fact, ‘hippy type apparel’ is mandatory at their retro fundraiser, profits from which go to homeless charity Street Support. Expect sixties soul, seventies funk and even a disco in the Blue Room Ballroom. It seems one party isn’t enough for the clandestine club, who have also organised a secret room rave.

STUDIO 54 | The Pen and Pencil
If you’re not already familiar with Studio 54, it’s a former nightclub - now Broadway theatre - located at 254 West 54th Street; famous for attracting the cream of New York society. Now The Pen and Pencil is bringing some NYC to NYE - and ‘the cool cats of Manchester’ are invited. With a special cocktail menu, drinks giveaways and DJ Sam Flanagan on the decks, it’s time to party like it's 1969...

VOGUE AS YOU ARE | The Refuge
The Refuge is hosting a suitably decadent event for NYE, following on from its blowout Sunday Style Principle bash earlier this year. Get your vogue on at the Victorian landmark restaurant, with familiar names like Meat Free, Will Tramp and Cha Cha Boudoir. If the thought of staggering home afterwards doesn’t appeal, the Principal is offering 20% off accommodation when you quote ‘vogue as you are’.

GLOW PARTY | Dive
Never one to shy from a good carouse - oft staying open ‘til 5am even on a regular weekend - this popular NQ hangout will be diving into 2017 with a fluorescent start to proceedings, so grab your dancing shoes and glowsticks as the midnight countdown begins. As ever there’ll be US-inspired bites, killer cocktails and DJs keeping the party going right up ‘til dawn.

RAISE THE ROOF | Islington Mill
Raise Islington Mill’s roof to raise money for the new one, with an evening (slash NYD morning) that promises beer pong with Madame Puotinen, spin the bottle with Trish Dee and some requisite karaoke with Fat Out. Elsewhere, find Joyce D’Vision in the bedroom, Guts for Garters roaming the hallways and Off with Their Heads (we’re sensing a theme here) in somewhere undisclosed.

LA DISCOTHEQUE | Albert Hall
TROF and WHP return with another gargantuan episode of La Discotheque, with an impressive line-up including You Got the Love and Young Hearts Run Free star Candi Staton. House veteran Derrick Carter will indulge revellers with a rare ‘Derrick Does Disco’ set, while Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor will be paying homage to the purple prince with his take on an electrifying Prince tribute. There’s plenty more where they come from - and indeed where La Discotheque came from, as Warehouse Project also boasts additional Store Street gigs on both NYE and NYD.

CAPITAL FM | Tiger Tiger
The UK’s no. 1 hit music radio station will be teaming with Tiger Tiger to usher in January with the likes of DJ Rob Ellis and Wingman. With seven different rooms, each with their own resident DJ, the Printworks’ veteran isn’t doing things by halves. Our advice? Get in there early, from 5-7pm, and benefit from half price cocktails.
