FACTORY music fan Colin Gibbins is to launch an exhibition of his complete collection of Factory discography in Ancoats on 5 May to raise money for local charity Forever Manchester.

Now my collection is complete I wanted to share it with others that share my passion, and by doing so raise money for Forever Manchester,

The exhibition will exhibit for the first time a complete collection of all music releases on the Factory label, in their original form, as issued at the time, including rarities, promos, test pressings and variations on cassette, CD and more.

Colin, originally from Blackley, has spent the last 30 years building his collection. He exhibited his pieces for the first time in 2011 with a small weekend long event at the Ducie Bridge Pub - click here. Since then Colin has managed to complete the entire collection, which will be on display in its entirety at the special Bank Holiday exhibition to be held at the Ice Plant development on Blossom Street, Ancoats.

Supporting Colin and Forever Manchester in putting on the exhibition is Trevor Johnson, one of the original Factory designers, and now creative director at Creative Lynx - who are the main sponsors of the exhibition.

Trevor has created the ‘FACTVM’ identity for the exhibition, as well as limited edition merchandise to raise additional funds for the charity.

Colin comments: “I love Manchester, and I love Factory. We met massive enthusiasm for the small exhibition we did last year, and now my collection is complete I wanted to share it with others that share my passion, and by doing so raise money for Forever Manchester, a charity that supports the people that live here. It’s been a long journey to get here, with a huge amount of support along the way, and I can't wait to welcome people through the door to see this amazing collection.”

The exhibition ties in with a host of events for those passionate about Manchester music with the Rainband playing the Academy on Friday 4 May, the Happy Mondays playing a comeback gig at the MEN arena on Saturday 5 May, and Peter Hook holding a commemorative gig in the carpark of the apartments on the site of the Hacienda site on Monday 21 May, to celebrate thirty years since the club's creation

The FACTVM exhibition will run from 5-7 May 11am–6pm on Sat 5 and Sun 6 and 11am–4pm on Monday 7 at The Ice Plant, Blossom Street, Manchester M4 6AJ. The event is sponsored by Creative Lynx, and Northern Group.  For more information see www.factvm.com and www.forevermanchester.com
