Cocktails are the thing in the bar beneath Bab
BAB on Stevenson Square has doubled in size recently thanks to the popularity of their 'kebabs worth sitting down for' concept. They've expanded into the downstairs space with a bar which is as much about music, dancing and cocktails as it is about food.
Their cocktail menu is extensive and carefully thought-out – Bab Cocktail Bar clearly wants to be a contender on the NQ cocktail scene.
Signature drinks include a Boulevardier infused with smoke made from whisky barrel oakwood chips. And a Blonde Fashion – a sweet take on the classic Old Fashioned served with a piece of white chocolate on the side.
There's a 'Bubs' section (short for bubbles) for those who like their cocktails prosecco-based, plus a strong showing of savoury cocktails to balance out the sweet ones.
If you win, you'll have £50 to spend on drinks, so you could get a selection (they're priced at £8-£9). Or... you could go a little crazy and order from their 'Outrageous' cocktail section.
This features a drink called 24k Nuts priced at £25. It's Ron Zacapa XO, stirred down with a home-made candied walnut syrup and orange bitters, and served over ice with 24k gold-coated candied walnuts made in the BAB kitchen.
Gold-coated walnuts? We have no words.
Or, how about the Kona Cup priced at £30? It's Remy Martin XO infused with 100% Hawaiian Kona coffee beans, stirred down with Mr Black Liqueur, and served over ice with a spoon of home-made caramel on top.
Whatever you order at the bar – and there's a great selection of beer, wine, spirits and so on as well – we predict a good night ahead.
