The fine-dining favourite in Stockport has made a ‘responsive shift’
Acclaimed Stockport restaurant, Where The Light Gets In, has announced it will be ‘entering a new chapter’.
From Wednesday 3 September, the independent restaurant - known for its ingredient-led cooking made from high-quality produce sourced from and supporting farmers, fishers, growers and winemakers - will begin to offer a five-course sharing menu priced at £75 per person; a decision designed to make its tables more affordable whilst still holding onto the values and beliefs that have shaped the business since it first opened, almost a decade ago, in 2016.
Chef and Founder Sam Buckley has built the restaurant’s ethos on ‘radical simplicity’, working with the seasons and the best produce available from trusted suppliers to provide guests with an unforgettable dining experience.
“This is a small shift for us, but an important one,” says Buckley. “It’s still Where The Light Gets In, still the same attention to detail, the same farmers, but in a format that feels more open, more relaxed, and at a lower price. It’s about more people around the table, more plates passed between friends, and more of the conversations that make this place what it is.”
As well as the innovative new menu, the kitchen counter will be open for walk-ins, providing low-intervention wines and cocktails - including a constantly changing by-the-glass selection, highlighting the work of the team’s favourite established and emerging vignerons- as well as a bar menu for those looking for a simple bite to eat.
Over the next year, the venue plans to evolve even more as WTLGI moves towards a more ‘immersive experience’ where guests will visit, not just to dine, but to learn and share knowledge, too.
Reservations for the new menu open on Thursday 24 July at 11am and can be booked here.
