Harley Young enjoys an evening of comedy in VIP style at The Mezz Bar

Since its opening back in March of this year, The Mezz at AO Arena has set the bar high for elevated live entertainment experiences in Manchester.

The new offering provides guests with a few different premium options, from skipping the queues with comfy, high-quality seats, to all inclusive drinks and bar food, to a Michelin star-quality menu from the brain of Tom Barnes, chef owner of the new and incredibly successful Skof.

We recently elevated our experience at the AO Arena with The Mezz’s all inclusive bar offering, making for a night to remember.

Arriving at the arena, we spotted a sign for The Mezz; a separate entrance that fast tracks your access to the venue, meaning less time queueing and more time for relaxing. Once you’ve been checked in by the friendly team, you’ll receive a lanyard and wristband and be shown to your seat.

Once comfortable and relaxed in The Mezz’s stylish and sleek restaurant and bar area, you’ll be wined and dined from the comfort of your table - there’s no need to get up and order from the bar here.

As we were dining on the bar menu package, the choice was conveniently already made for us and we received an array of elevated small plates including corn-fed chicken caesar salad, signature mac and cheese with smoked bacon jam, and lamb belly shawarma. As for drinks, there’s a wide selection available including everything from soft drinks and non-alcoholic cocktails to beers, wines, ciders, Champagne and Prosecco.

Forget the clock-watching, there’s no fear of missing your favourite act as you’ll be reminded when acts are ready to start in plenty of time to find your seat before the curtain goes up. Adding an extra element of luxe, the team will take a further drinks order so your beverage of choice is ready and waiting for you during the interval - talk about having everything covered eh?

By the time we headed up to our premium seats in the arena, via the exclusive entrance for The Mezz guests only, we were well fed and watered, ready for an evening of entertainment courtesy of Liverpool comedian Paul Smith.

The premium seats are extremely comfortable and offer a panoramic view of the stage with plenty of leg and elbow room. You don’t feel like you’re sitting on your next door neighbour’s lap. In fact, the experience is so immersive that you feel like you’re one of the only people in the room with your favourite acts or artists. Nipping to get a mid-show drink or bathroom break was an absolute doddle, with no queues to hold us back we didn't have to risk missing those punchlines.

Might we add that the bathrooms are also decked out beautifully too and are well looked after with great lighting for touching up your makeup for that “Look mum, I’m at The Mezz” selfie.

After the show is finished, the party doesn’t stop there. Oh no. Do what we did and head back to The Mezz for one last tipple in comfort before heading home, totally converted and ready to make every event a premium one.
