HUNDREDS of naked cycilsts rode through Manchester city centre on Friday 12 June as part of the World Naked Bike Ride 2015 - the 'biggest naked protest event on earth'.
Interestingly, there's no law against nudity in England and Wales
The unconventional international protest - which has seen similar events in cities such as London, Melbourne and Mexico City - aims to expose the dangers faced by cyclists on the road and generally protest against the negative effects of cars, oil dependency, war, capitalism and patriarchy (it's amazing how many of these anti-patriarchs are older blokes, you know)
And also to highlight the positive effects of getting bollock naked, presumably.
The ride was the tenth such event in Manchester, setting off from All Saints Park on Oxford Road around 7pm before heading into Manchester city centre, down Deansgate, through Albert Square, the Northern Quarter and the Village before heading back to the park for around 9pm.
Interestingly, there's no law against nudity in England and Wales (unless 'genitals are exposed with the intent to cause alarm or distress'), so riders were told to 'bare what you dare'. Full nudity was optional though much of the older male contingent clearly didn't get the memo. Funny that.
