LAST WEEK Confidential revealed that Beat Street, the indomitable collective behind some of Manchester's most rollicking food and booze events, were setting down their burger-turners and taking up their putters
...because, for two weeks only, Beat Street are bringing Crazy Golf to the city centre.
We've made three very playable, yet pretty weird crazy golf monstrosities
Finding themselves with a massive post-industrial space to fill and a rare two week gap to plug between 24 November to 6 December, Beat Street decided, as anyone would, to realise a dream and build their very own Junkyard Golf Club.
The project will see nine'ish ('possibly ten, maybe twelve') holes imagined and knocked together within Deansgate's Great Northern Warehouse using everything from Scalextric tracks to paddling pools and knackered old treadmills... essentially anything they could Steptoe.
Now, three holes into their gonzo course, Confidential has popped in for a sneak peak around the mysterious new project.
Beat Street founder and crazy golf nut Chris Legh told us:
"Three days, 32 lattes, 12 gin and tonics and a pork knuckle later, we've dusted off the first 3 of our 9+ junkyard golf holes. After negotiated the science of arcing old pond fountains, fixing knackered treadmills and numerous broken plates we've made three very playable, yet pretty weird crazy golf monstrosities."
Junkyard Golf Club will open 11am every day between 24 Nov to 6 Dec with a fully stocked bar, music and DJs. Tickets are priced at £6 per person and can be played in pairs or groups of four, six and eight.
