Lystra Adams' pink palace comes to Manchester's temple of consumerism
There are two types of people in this world, there are those for whom The Trafford Centre is the idea of shopping heaven, miles of brands, bling and bargains - and those who think it's a hell hole.
If you're the latter, you might want to bounce now because you probably don't like pastel pink, flamingo strewn Instagrammable bars either then.
Boujee's new Trafford centre pop up is part of the Trafford Centre's new Summer Social event
Boujee, RHOC star Lystra Adams' unashamedly pink palace of pouting and pornstar martinis, is one of the biggest success stories of the past 12 months. If you still can't get enough of everything puce and sugary, you'll be pleased that this pop-up at The Trafford Centre - the fifth in the Boujee empire according to Adams - has arrived just in time for a summer of slushies at bubblegum coloured picnic tables.
Frozen cocktails and all the pink you can handle at The Trafford Centre
It makes sense, to be fair, to add a Boujee pop up for wilted shoppers to kick back and unwind after a long day of changing rooms and chit chat. Two retro American-style street food vans are parked up serving alcoholic slush cocktails and a selection of light meals like salads (think garlic and herb chicken with chimichurri or spicy cauliflower with chilli and mint yoghurt) and sandwiches with slaw.
We popped along for the opening celebration with Lystra Adams in attendance to cut the ribbon along with her pal and fellow Real Housewives of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley. The pair were in high spirits if admittedly "melting" in the 30-degree heat and still managing to look fabulous with body glitter and body con frocks before lunchtime. Fair play to them.
Boujee's new Trafford centre pop up sits alongside a fairground the kids will be all over as part of the Trafford Centre's new Summer Social event.
Summer Social features a beach, a fairground and more
Summer Social features an 8,000 sq ft "beach", live music and entertainment, exciting pop-ups and er, "selfie-ready backdrops".
There's also a full fairground with rides for all ages including The Star Flyer, Log Flume, Apple Coaster and Cruise Ship.
All of these attractions can be found outside The Orient, opposite The Great Hall entrance of The Trafford Centre 11am – 9pm daily. The food and events space is open 12pm – 10pm Sunday – Thursday and 12pm – 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays until 5 September 2021.
Zoe Inman, Centre Director, said: “Summer Social is going to be a unique and vast outdoor area, offering people a safe space to gather, eat, drink and have some fun. With over 200 stores, restaurants and leisure attractions to also explore within the centre itself, it’s time to plan a sensational day out at The Trafford Centre this summer – don’t forget your sun cream!”
The fifth Boujee in the family
Ritchie Bagnall, Operations Director at Boujee, added: “The Boujee crew are so excited to be linking up with the Summer Social at The Trafford Centre and opening on site on Thursday 22nd July. Boujee opened its flagship site in December in Liverpool and since then things just keep getting more pink and more Boujee for us! We’re currently on site number five and we have something exciting to announce later this year!
“We’ve just reached 90K followers on the ‘gram and want to thank everyone for coming down to Boujee the past few months! We’re bringing all the best bits of Boujee outside to The Trafford Centre throughout the Summer Sun and can’t wait for more Fun, Fizz and Boujee vibes at The Trafford Centre over the next few months!”
