AFTER a whirlwind of fashion weeks and the shops fast getting stocked up for summer it can be hard to know where to start. And if you're thinking of buying into a trend or two, think again.

This season's looks are to be worn freely and sparingly - who says a sequinned top doesn't go with shiny spandex leggings and a beaded bag? Anything goes. Anything, that is, aside from the staple items you probably already have in your wardrobe. Ho-hum.

Yes, unfortunately for most, spring/summer has taken a daring U-turn away from the classic and towards the unconventional. It’s a bit like being seven-years-old again and putting your floral dress over your mint green jeans and trainer boots before your mum swiftly redresses you to make you look civilised again.

This time, mum doesn’t get a say but Topshop certainly does. From midrift baring ethic prints to psychedelic designs on touchy feely textures, this season’s commune of colour and frenzy of fashion is about freedom and the high street giant has all the looks wrapped up in a multicoloured bow, most likely. Take a look for yourself...

The high summer collection will be hitting stores nationwide from April 2012 and online at www.topshop.com
