Manchester's Bipolar Sunshine (formerly a member of Kid British), will perform a homecoming gig at the Ritz. With his brand of genre-bending hip-hop, indie and drum'n'bass, the young vocalist will perform his popular singles ahead of a pending new album.
JIMMY CARR FUNNY BUSINESS | Manchester Apollo | Fri 17 April
The 42-year-old English stand-up comedian is back with another UK tour; Funny Business. Known for his signature laugh, dark humour and use of edgy one liners, Carr hits Manchester tomorrow evening after fifteen successful (well, mostly, apart from that taxman ho-hah) years in the business.
MOONRISE RUN | Heaton Park | Sat 18 April
As the sun sets on Heaton Park, joggers, power-walkers and crawling-to-the-finish-ers from across Manchester will take part in a brand new 5 km run before being rewarded with a late-night music festival. The Moon Rise Run will transform the 5K course into an 'enchanting passage across the park', illuminated with twinkling festoon lighting and by the LED Moonbeam wristbands given to each runner. MANCHESTER THUNDER SEMI-FINAL | Manchester Arena | Sat 18 April
Netball superleague champions, Manchester Thunder, are to play this year's Superleague semi final at the 21-000 capacity Manchester Arena. Their opponent for the April 18 match is yet to be confirmed. The 'curtain raiser' netball match will take place at 4.30pm prior to the main event, with the first centre pass at 6.10pm, which will be screened live on Sky Sports. See here for ticket information.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR | Palace Theatre | Sat 18
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera returns to Manchester telling the story of Jesus Christ’s glorious last few days. The show has been running for 44 years and is still as compelling as ever. With Broadway star Glenn Carter featuring as Jesus himself and X-factor finalist Rachel Adedeji as Mary Magdalene, it is a performance not to be missed.

Based on the best-selling novel by John Boyne, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a heart-wrenching tale of an unlikely friendship between two innocent boys. This adaption is brought to you by The Children’s Touring Partnership who have previously produced Goodnight Mister Tom and Swallows and Amazons. Set during World War II, the story is seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and devastating consequences.
