The Pen and Pencil have a beauty of a new menu out and we at Confidentials are going to be eating our way through it for brunch, lunch and dinner. Very happily. It’s the taste of the new season and we are ready for it.
A taste of sunshine
You’ll find fruity new brunch cocktails like the strawberry Bellini and the P&P lychee iced tea and lighter burger options like the Thai-style salmon bagel burger. When the sun shines – even a little bit – we’ll be ordering the P&P summer salad. With baby gem lettuce, avocado, peppers, red cabbage, carrots and pomegranate, it’s crisp, colourful and clean. More importantly, it’s delicious.
Not everything is as summery because knowing Manchester as we do, there may be the odd few days of spring and summer where it rains a little. There may even be sleet. But the new dish of confit beef ribs with date syrup vegetables is gooey and comforting enough to see you through a hailstorm with a smile on your face.
Brunch newbies
New dishes on the brunch menu which is served from 10am – 4pm every day include a breakfast chorizo bagel and Mexican breakfast – a mix of taco sheets, roasted veg and corn with avocado and a fried egg.
And if you get your food kicks from ordering old favourites, don’t worry, they’re still on the menu. It wouldn’t be the Pen and Pencil without classics like eggs Pen and Pencil, American pancakes and their signature burger.
