AS evenings turn colder and nights get longer, Manchester’s super summer venue, The Lawn Club in Spinningfields is morphing into a chic winter hangout. The reclaimed timber and glass retreat features contemporary log fires giving it a touch of the glamorous après-ski lodge. This idyllic winter venue is perfect for throwing off your faux fur, shaking the snow off your shoulders and partying like an extra in a stylish Christmas pop video.

From the outside, this rectangular space looks like one room but it's actually divided into a series of different sized areas to accommodate a range of groups; The Bar for 100, The Orangery with roaring fires and sliding timber doors accommodates 56 for dining or 100 for drinks, or The Enchanted Gardens (which incorporates the smoking area) would be perfect for drinks for 40.
Head Chef David Gale has come up with a simple but delicious range of small plates and sharing platters; social dining to suit the season. This festive feast includes a rolling programme of dishes such as roast butternut squash with blue cheese and toasted pumpkin seeds, platters of honey roast ham and his take on the classic prawn cocktail to start.
Main courses feature classic roast rib of beef, grilled turkey escalope’s with cranberry sauce, and roast salmon. The hearty cauliflower, potato and cheese pie with savoury peas will warm the Christmas cockles of any vegetarian. Finish with Spiced roasted plums with yoghurt and auger toasted almonds, classic Sherry trifle as good as your mums and a platter of regional cheese.
To make it easier for office party organisers, groups receive all of the dishes to share for £25 per person (subject to dietary requirements) with additional drinks packages available to suit all budgets. As a thank you, they'll also receive a £20 'organiser voucher' for booking parties of ten or more during December – as long as the deposit is paid before the end of November.
The seasonally changing cocktail list features a range of liquid winter warmers or guests can enjoy the pick of the wine list, craft beers, premium spirits and soft drinks. For a party with a difference, you can even learn to mix your own drinks in a cocktail masterclass from your own personal mixologist.
