ONE of the great things about being single is that you get to chat, flirt and make new, exciting connections with people in a way that coupled-up people can't.

Flirting, we are agreed, is lots of fun. Drinking, dining, chatting, laughing, making new friends and meeting someone you feel that undeniable click with – these are all wonderful things, too, experiences you really should be making the most of while you're still single.

Alas, after a certain age, the opportunities to meet new people just don't crop up like they used to.

What's a sociable single to do?

Maybe you go out drinking and dining with friends -  but they're married, and not as interested in opening up the group, so you end up in a huddle, having a cosy but uneventful, sort of evening.

So....you sign up to an online dating site, really get on with someone, chat to them for weeks and then meet them in the flesh and -  there's zero chemistry.

Or you join a meet up group, but find that one gender outnumbers the other 20-1.

Or maybe you eschew all that corny organised singles stuff and just do it the old fashioned way – get dressed up, head to a bar with your single friends and lock eyes with an attractive stranger...only for them to drop their spouse into the conversation on the second drink.

So far, so not much fun as it really ought to be.

All you want, after all, is a great night out, in entertaining company, with high quality food and booze, surrounded by interesting people - an equal mix of men and women - all of whom are single and therefore open to having a laugh and making new connections, whether romantic or otherwise. Right?

Good. Because that's exactly what the Confidential Singles Night has got in store for you.

Taking place on Thursday 3 April, our inaugural singles night is a brilliant way to meet new people in a cringe-free, fun, and memorable way – designed entirely for our Manchester Confidential readership.

We know how much you like to try new things, so we're holding the event at one of Manchester's newest restaurants – Velvet Central.

We know how much you like quality food and drink, so we've got Gordo on the case and his friend Mark Cain, owner of Velvet Central, has promised to impress.

We know you don't  want any stilted conversations or awkward expectations – so we've got sociable hosts on hand to  make sure the evening is light-hearted and enjoyable.

We know you want to feel totally relaxed about being there, so we're asking every single man to bringing a single woman and vice versa – not only do you then have a buddy to walk in with, this also ensures that there will be a perfect match of single men and women on the evening.

But don't worry - if you like the sound of our Singles Night but don't have a single friend to bring, give us a shout, and we will find someone of the opposite sex who is in the same position – that way, we can keep the numbers even without leaving anyone out.

The great thing about the Manchester Confidential Singles Night is that it will be just like going out used to be – a fun night out with lots of people who just want to have a great time. If you meet someone, that's wonderful.
But if you don't, it doesn't matter – at the Confidential Singles Night, enjoying yourself is the only pre-requisite.

And we know that you know how to do that....
