THE FIGHT against cancer is nowhere near won. The research and efforts of The Christie charity are much needed and well recognised. However unfortunately they are often poorly funded.
Step in, The C Project.
The evening will include new writing and directing from Manchester Theatre Award winners and nominees, and cast members of In the Flesh, Prisoners’ Wives, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and numerous acclaimed theatre productions from across the region.
The C project is a collection of "brilliant, sharp and moving new writing by eight of Manchester’s most exciting playwrights." Performed on two nights, Friday 9 May and Saturday 10 May, both nights are aiming to raise as much money as possible for the life-saving work carried out by The Christie.

Produced by theatre company Working Progress and ran by artistic directors Rob Ward and Jo Kirtley, The C Project has become about more than just two nights of performing. For one project member the cause has a personal attachment.
"My Mam was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma a few years ago. It was devastating, but I’m happy to say she’s doing well and is now in remission," explains Jo Kirtley.
"Around the same time of it happening, I was involved in the 24:7 Theatre Festival and was surrounded by so many amazingly talented people. I thought it was an ideal opportunity to mark my Mam’s recovery and help raise vital funds and awareness for such a fantastic charity, which provides care and support for families like mine."

'The C Card' by Jo Kirtley Pritchard, directed by Martha Simon
Kirtley commented, "I am overwhelmed and tremendously grateful to everyone involved on the project, but also to my Mam, my inspiration."
Stef Underhill, community fundraising officer at The Christie charity said, "The C Project is such an interesting and unusual idea so we’re delighted Jo came to us with this proposal in aid of The Christie charity.
"We’re also really grateful to the group of talented writers and actors who are giving their time to the project for free. Let’s hope both nights are sell outs. All funds raised will help make a difference to cancer patients at The Christie."
