Basque cooking at Baratxuri
Baratxuri’s Basque-inspired Sunday Lunch at Escape to Freight Island is a fiesta of meat and fire which sets it apart from anywhere else in the city.
With two courses for £21 and three courses for £25 it’s ridiculously good value. Especially when you consider how many places have suckling lamb as part of their Sunday Roast.
Starters include moreish kroketas and puddings include a glorious Basque trifle but it is the main courses which are the centrepiece of any roast dinner and the ones at Baratxuri do not disappoint.
Suckling lamb or Dexter beef for Sunday Lunch?
From the aforementioned suckling lamb with pomegranate to the melt-in-the-mouth braised Dexter beef cheek to the hanger steak- they’re all cooked over fire for a true Spanish asador flavour.
Vegetarians can still enjoy the smoky charcoal cooking with chargrilled cauliflower steak with a punchy bravas sauce.
Surely this is what Sundays are made for?
