The group has submitted a building control application for Ship Canal House
It looks like Flight Club, the popular London-based 'social darts' bar group, are eyeing up a move to Manchester.
The group, which has two sites in London and one in Chicago, has submitted a building control application for Ship Canal House, 98 King Street – home to the struggling Burger & Lobster chain.
The application requests permission to fit out the ground and basement floors of the grade II-listed building, though it is unknown whether Burger & Lobster will share the space or vacate completely.
Burger & Lobster opened on the corner of King Street and Brown Street in August 2015, but were reportedly looking to offload the site just eleven months later following a poor financial performance.
Despite closing several sites across the UK, the Manchester branch of the George Bukhov-founded chain has managed to hang in there, though Confidential understands a number of offers have been made on the site.
Launched in Shoreditch in October 2015, Flight Club combines the traditional pastime and pub setting with faster-paced multiplayer games, food and fairground interiors.
It is the creation of business partners Steve Moore and Paul Barhan, who were inspired to open the venue after witnessing a group of youngsters play Killer Darts in a pub in Devon.
Speaking to Confidential, a Flight Club spokesperson said "Manchester is a city we'd love to be a part of," but added "nothing is confirmed yet.”
A representative of Burger & Lobster said "there are conversations ongoing".
