Celebrate in style – Selfridges gets its own bubbles bar courtesy San Carlo
The doors will be open later this month to the San Carlo Champagne Bar, in the newly refurbished Accessories Hall at the Trafford Centre’s luxedepartment store Selfridges.
Located on the mall’s Lower Level, San Carlo Champagne Bar promises to be the perfect spot to drop once you’ve shopped, with great tipples and nibbles from the Distefano family’s multi-award-winning Italian restaurant company, and an amazing backdrop. A central feature of the décor is the stunning 20 foot-wide ‘cloud’ chandelier floating above the elegant marble bar. Inspired by sparkling Champagne bubbles, it is comprised of a thousand discs hand made in the Veneto region of Italy, world-famous for its Murano glass creations.
Take a seat at one of the luxurious padded stools next to the bar or grab a banquette in the lounge seating area, and enjoy an expertly curated wine list, at least 10 choices of fizz served by the glass or bottle, 18 of the world’s best gins, plus cocktails and mocktails, including and the decadent Choc’spresso – an indulgent, warming combination of Seedlip spice, espresso coffee, chocolate and nut syrup, garnished with a Lindt caramel chocolate.
San Carlo Group’s Managing Director Marcello Distefano says: ‘We’re excited to bring this new design and concept to life at Selfridges Trafford. Attention to detail has always been important to us; from the specially curated, eclectic menu to the cloud chandelier, crystal glassware and bespoke silver ice buckets we hope to bring a touch of relaxed luxury to this busy, iconic department store.’
An all-day food menu ranges from luxurious nibbles, including oysters and blinis with caviar, and refined sandwiches to salads and sharing antipasti plates, plus San Carlo’s signature sweet treats, speciality cakes and homemade ice cream.

Our customers are huge fans of the new space already and we look forward to welcoming the San Carlo Champagne Bar to Selfridges Trafford, later this month when we reveal phase two of the space, with the launch of the final phase of the project scheduled for opening in September 2019.”
San Carlo Group has built its success on sourcing authentic Italian and Sicilian food and drink and, as well as the Manchester institution that is therestaurant on King Street West, San Carlo has a further 20 individually designed venues in locations from Liverpool to London, and further afield, from Bahrain to Bangkok.
The first standalone San Carlo Champagne Bar, this sees the sixth Selfridges and San Carlo Group collaboration – with at least one San Carlo venue now in every Selfridges store – and follows hot on the heels of the opening of rooftop go-to Alto by San Carlo, at the capital’s iconic Oxford Street Selfridges.
