The awards and rankings keep coming thick and fast this time of the year and this time it’s the Schofield’s chaps getting international plaudits. We are delighted to see so many new cities appear on the extended list for the first time
The rankings, which feature renowned bars from across the world, will culminate with the Top 50 announcement on Tuesday 4 October in Barcelona. The list is voted for by a panel of over 650 independent drinks experts from all over the world which includes the likes of bartenders, educators, drinks writers, consultants and cocktail specialists. The panel is split 50/50 by gender.
International recognition for Schofield's
Schofield’s Bar is in good company on the 51-100 list, which includes bars spanning 32 different cities from across the world. Manchester is one of five new cities featuring on the list for the first time, the others being Kraków, Bratislava, Playa Del Carmen and Bogotá. Schofield’s, situated on Little Quay Street is run by brothers Joe and Daniel Schofield, who also have a hand in Atomeca and the newly launched Sterling in the basement of the Stock Exchange Hotel.
The bar is highly regarded in the city for its classic cocktail menu, warm hospitality and comfortable atmosphere.
The World’s 50 best cocktail bars list has been published annually since 2009, with last year’s rankings topped by The Connaught in London. This year, Schofield’s Bar sits 59th on the list between Dubai’s Mimi Kakushi (58) and Melbourne’s Caretaker’s Cottage (60). Schofield’s placed 16th in the UK edition of this year’s Top 50 Cocktail bars.
Mark Sansom, Director of Content for The World’s 50 Best Bars, says
“We are delighted to see so many new cities appear on the extended list for the first time – being able to recognise 32 different global cities out of the available 50 positions is particularly pleasing. All the bars announced today have continued, with outstanding resilience, to overcome the challenges that still face the industry, and it gives us great pleasure to celebrate double the number of establishments and their achievements.
