The Italian foodie favourite has announced a brand-new “food hub” - including a restaurant, bar, deli and exhibition space - in Deansgate Square.

Fresh from another successful Festa Italiana, owner Maurizio Cecco has promised an early November opening date for the new venue.
The latest addition to the Salvi’s family will no doubt follow in the footsteps of its older sisters, the original deli/restaurant/mozzarella bar in the Corn Exchange (pictured above) and the newer Northern Quarter cucina. On her visit to Salvi's NQ, our reviewer said she “could feel [her] happy little cheeks being pinched all the way from Napoli” thanks to recipes inspired by Maurizio’s Nonna Teresa.
What will the new Salvi's bring to Deansgate Square?
The latest Salvi’s will be a go-to spot for Italian goodies, from must-eats such as gelato to pizza via cicchetti, all alongside Italian wines, beers, spritz and a deli for takeaway "sfizio", or "little whims" - those spur of the moment treats we all need from time to time. Highlights from the current Salvi's menu include mozzarella di bufala, burrata and Cacio e Pepe ravioli.
Maurizio will also be in the house offering pasta-making classes and perhaps his daughter Sienna will be expanding on her kids' cookery classes (this is a family joint, after all).
The highlight for many Mancunians will be the weather-protected and heated terrace providing a sheltered space for outdoor dining all year. Even better, the dining area will feature an outdoor private dining room - the first of its kind in the city - which will be available to book for events and private dinners.
It’s been a decade since Maurizio Cecco and his wife Claire decided to carve a niche with authentic, high-quality Italian produce and opened their first deli in the Corn Exchange. To celebrate the 10-year anniversary, Salvi’s will be having a bit of a brand makeover to go with the new space.

The venue is designed in collaboration with AXI Studio who have also worked projects for King Street Townhouse, Moor Hall and Sunlight House. Expect a sleek interior with tactile finishes to go with the sensory stimulation of all the beautiful Italian produce.
Commenting on the new venture, Maurizio said: “Manchester is our home and we’re always looking for new potential sites so this seemed too good to miss! Deansgate Square gives us the opportunity to bring together all the best aspects of Salvi’s, plus we can now roll out some new ideas that we’re really excited about.”
The announcement follows the successful openings of Atomeca and General Stores at Deansgate Square, alongside coffee bar Mule and design-conscious plant shop and florist Flourish. Our writer Jonathan Schofield said of the Deansgate Square development: “Deansgate Square is some of the best work of Manchester's Simpson Haugh Architects and arguably the best recent cluster of tall buildings in the UK. More than anything else these buildings are pin sharp.” The developers Renaker describe it as “a destination space”.
