CONFIDENTIAL hears the folks behind Chorlton café-bar The Laundrette and Chorlton Green Brasserie (reviewed here) are ready to plug the dearth of pizzas, burgers and cocktails in the city centre with a new site in Manchester.

...punters can look forward to BBQ Pulled Pork pizzas, Triple Truffle burgers and Mac’n’Cheese

Following the likes of Indian Tiffin Rooms, The Liquor Store, Gasworks Brewbar and, er, Pizza Express, The Laundrette team have nailed down a unit within Manchester’s new £500m First Street development - adjacent to the Vita Student building and close to the new £25m arts complex, HOME.

The self-styled ‘cocktails and carbs’ joint – which first opened within the former Soap Opera laundrette on Beech Road in 2013 – should launch in First Street sometime this autumn, where punters can look forward to BBQ Pulled Pork pizzas, Triple Truffle burgers and Mac’n’Cheese (menu here).

Students paying up to £12k a year for their Vita digs will also be able to pick up complimentary coffee, juice and pastries from a new express breakfast station.

Laundrette co-owner, Patrick Hall, said: “We are really excited to move the Laundrette into Manchester centre. First Street is a brilliant addition to Manchester’s food and drink scene and we’re delighted to have a south facing corner location perfect for enjoying our cocktails and carbs in a beautiful restaurant space or on our all-year terrace.”
