FOLLOWING last week's announcement of a major new £150m city centre district (read about the Kampus project here), Manchester-based property developer Capital & Centric have unveiled their vision to redevelop the area around the Grade II-listed Ordsall Hall in Salford.
Creating a big new public boulevard will bring new life and activity to the area
The 44,000 sq ft digital village scheme - built on a five acre former-factory site and approved by Salford Council back in September 2013 - will include twelve business units, a new tree-lined 40 ft wide public 'boulevard' and a new water taxi station on the River Irwell.
Capital & Centric say the new boulevard will give visitors to Ordsall Hall straight access to the River Irwell and the potential new water taxi service.
The developer estimates the new business campus will create around 200 new jobs for the area.
Max Bentham, development manager said:
"We want to encourage people to visit Ordsall Hall and provide facilities for cyclists and walkers too. Creating a big new public boulevard will bring new life and activity to the area, which will be open 24/7, a similar approach to our Kampus project.”
The Digital Village project has been part financed by the European Regional Development Fund Programme.
Construction should begin in July 2015.
