Moroccan infused chicken, sweet mango slices, chilli soaked oysters and a trio of desserts...
Remember that summer holiday spent together on the Costa Del Somewhere? Your sun-drenched skin all golden and freckled (with mild red patches you were convinced would turn brown), sipping cocktails by the pool, frolicking in the sea – caution thrown to the wind – and sharing tapas over a bottle of plonk in the evenings?
Wouldn't it be lovely to re-create those long, lazy, summer days?
Well. The big old ball in the sky may be far away, but if you book a table at Tapeo & Wine (and wear your most insulating sweater) you really could be right back on that Spanish coastline.
What better way to keep the romance alive this Valentine's Day, than bringing back those precious summer memories?
Tapeo & Wine is a friendly, independent restaurant situated in Deansgate, Manchester. Now the city's newest Spanish restaurant, this is the place to go if you're mad on authentic Spanish cooking – yummy tapas, tender seafood, perfectly seasoned vegetables, and moist and meaty paellas.
With traditional décor and cosy seating, Tapeo & Wine offer a little bit of sun-drenched Spain, for us pasty Northerners to enjoy.
And the Valentine's Menu certainly follows suit.
You can treat the one you love to a three-course feast of hearty Spanish delights, for less than £30pp. Choose the oysters – if you're feeling particularly amorous – infused with chilli, crunchy peppers and a lime vinaigrette to season.
Move on to the chicken skewers – chargrillled and delicately spiced – with sirloin steak and creamy potatoes. This is a lovely one to share (a skewer for you, and one for me) then finish off with a sweet and sticky platter of miniature desserts.
And of course, you should choose a crisp Spanish wine to wash everything back with – ask your waiter for recommendations – and leave together hand in hand, full of holiday spirit.
