Fresh, nourishing sunshine food to lift your spirits and fill your belly
ONE way to stop every day blurring into the next in these strange times is to plan a few treats to break up the week. If you live in Salford, why not schedule-in a takeout tapas night from Porta?
They're doing call and collect tapas from their restaurant at 216 Chapel Street, Salford, Tuesday-Saturday. Call to order from their takeout menu on 0161 459 7854 before 5pm, and they'll have it ready for you to collect that evening.
Porta is from the team behind Michelin Bib Gourmand winner Joseph Benjamin in Chester. It's high-quality tapas, handmade by chefs. Their takeout menu isn't as extensive as their restaurant menu but it still has a great selection of Iberian tapas bar classics.
Reawaken your taste-buds with Picos de Europa blue cheese with caramelised walnuts, sultanas and honey (£5.75) and soft, fresh bread with olive oil (£2.70).
If you're missing meat, order their charcuterie of lomo, chorizo and salchichon Iberico, or their spicy chicken wings pimenton (£5.50) for a spicy hit. We also love the sound of their slow roast lamb shoulder with chimichurri and fried chickpeas (£8.95)
Fish dishes include 'boquerones' - marinated white anchovies (£4), and King Prawns a la plancha (£7.75). And there are plenty of vegetable dishes, such as tenderstem broccoli with Romesco sauce and almonds (£7.50), potato and onion tortilla (£3.95) and patatas bravas (£4).
Everyone is encouraged to get some fresh air each day. Make Porta the destination for your evening walk, and collect a bag full of nourishing, just-cooked tapas to enjoy when you get home.
