POLICE have released the images of two people they would like to speak to following a number of street robberies in Manchester.
“These young men have been attacked from behind with brute force and all have suffered extremely nasty facial injuries.
CCTV still 2At about 2.30am on Saturday 23 February 2013, a 20-year-old man was walking home along Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield following a night out.
He is seen on CCTV walking past Dickenson Road, being followed by a man and woman.
A short time later he was attacked and robbed.
The victim has little recollection of the incident but was found injured on the ground near to the Manchester High School for Girls by a passerby.
They flagged down a motorist who called the police and she left before police arrived.
Police are keen to trace her as well as the two people in the CCTV.
CCTV still 1The woman is described as having a foreign accent, possibly Dutch or German, and was wearing a beige coat.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to a fractured jaw and eye socket. His mobile phone and wallet were stolen.
About an hour later an 18-year-old man was on Denison Road, Victoria Park.
He was walking home from a party when he was attacked from behind.
He was found injured on the ground with serious facial injuries and his mobile phone and wallet missing.
Detectives are also investigating two similar incidents a week earlier.
On that occasion a 21-year-old man was walking along Great Western Street in Moss Side when he was attacked.
His does not recall what happened to him but woke up on the ground with serious facial injuries with his phone and wallet missing.
At 5.45am on Sunday 17 February 2013, a 19-year-old man was walking home on Denmark Road, Moss Side when he was hit across the back of the head.
When he regained consciousness he realised his phone and wallet had been stolen.
Detectives have now released CCTV images of two people they would like to speak to in connection with the incidents.
Detective Sergeant John Robb, said: “These young men have been attacked from behind with brute force and all have suffered extremely nasty facial injuries.
“They have all been targeted as they walked home alone having been out drinking, they have had no chance to react and have been dealt heavy blows that have rendered them unconscious.
“The CCTV images we have released are pretty clear and we believe someone will know who these people are. I would ask anyone who does recognise the people in the images to get in touch as soon as possible.”
