A BRAND new design and retail event is to unite the region’s most talented designer-makers, independent brands and local food producers for a free weekend festival.
In addition to the wide retail offering, visitors to the Weekender can expect casual dining in its finest from Manchester favourite, Mary-Ellen McTague
From Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 June, ‘The Weekender’ will be situated at the heart of Old Granada Studios within repurposed industrial space and 'creative playground' The Workshop.
In the newly restored space, visitors will discover the 'city’s first gallery-style concept store' and bespoke bleachers from which a pop-up cinema will be a key focal point.
The new two-day event, has been curated to appeal to the city’s food-loving, conscientious and design-conscious consumers.
Families, foodies, collectors and weekend tourists will be able to browse a carefully edited selection of accessories, fashion and homewares from noteworthy designers including Julia Roy Williams (WONDERHAUS), award-winning ceramicist Joe Hartley and Manchester boutique, Lissom and Muster.
Acclaimed jewellery designer Jade Mellor- previously featured in Vogue - will extend the luxury offering, culminating in a distinctive retail offering, seldom available offline.
In addition to the wide retail offering, visitors to the Weekender can expect casual dining in its finest from Manchester favourite, Mary-Ellen McTague alongside resident independent coffee aficionados Caffeine and Co.
Bitter Twisted will be on hand with The Venezia - a mobile cocktail bar experience in the form of a classically converted Citroen van, turned into a stylish 1920s' gin garden.
Live performances from local DJs including Will Tramp will take place throughout the day inside the Workshop, as well as multiple bar offerings from some of the region’s best known drinks providers.
The Playroom will provide optional entertainment for children in the form of an arts and craft workshop, where busy parents can take time to enjoy a creative activity with their little ones.
Showcasing the finest independent designers in the North, the Weekender will do much to provide a platform for talented independents.
