Wilmslow Road is about to get a Head of Steam
Camerons Brewery has just confirmed plans to open their twelfth Head of Steam pub, on Wilmslow Road in Didsbury. Work will begin in December on the site of the former Sanctuary venue, which has been empty for the past four years. The new pub is expected to open in February 2018.
Chris Soley, Camerons Brewery Chief Executive, said: “We have been looking at a number of venues across the North West and we identified the Manchester area as one of the key places we wanted to open a new site in. Didsbury is a very popular town and we feel our The Head of Steam venue will be another excellent addition to the fantastic range of bars and restaurants in the area”.
The news follows the North East brewer’s latest opening of their The Head of Steam Liverpool venue on Hanover Street on September 21, plus the recent refurbishments at the Brewery Tap, Leeds and Eagle & Child, York.
The group (‘vendors of great beer since 1995’) have built up a portfolio of pubs across the north in cities including Newcastle, Huddersfield, Hull and Sheffield. They have developed a reputation for offering a range of innovative UK and world beers. The Didsbury site will have nineteen keg lines with a selection of rotating craft beers, eight cask ale lines including beers and real cider, plus a selection of premium cocktails, spirits and soft drinks.
The food menu will include the pub global pick and mix of brunch, deli taster boards, ‘energy bowls’ and tacos, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free option, as well as British pub classics such as fish and chips, sausage and mash with a focus on using fresh, local ingredients. To match their selection of American beers the venue will open with a range of burgers and 12” hot dogs as well as Mac ‘n’ Cheese which incorporates their Röad Crew beer in the cheese sauce.
The news about The Head of Steam investing in a formerly neglected Didsbury site, comes on the back of the news that hospitality veteran Steve Pilling has recently revamped and reopened Didsbury’s Dog and Partridge pub, also on Wilmslow Road.
