BRITISH favourite, Mr Thomas’s Chop House, is set to host its next wine matched dinner evening on Wednesday 21 March, at 7:30pm.

The evening will be hosted by George Bergier, Chairman of the Guild of Sommeliers, and next month’s menu looks the most exciting to date.

George has worked in Manchester city centre since the late 1960s after starting as a waiter in Warsaw in 1962. He has opened over a quarter of a million bottles of wine in service time during his life, and has won numerous awards. His skill and passion for fine food and wine is well versed, as is his charm and amiable nature.

For £39.50 per person, you’ll be treated to four courses of the traditional British food that has made Mr Thomas’s Chop House one of Britain’s best pubs – each complimented with a carefully selected glass of wine.

Homemade salmon and salt cod fishcake bound with British mash potato & dill will kick-start the evening, accompanied by a glass of Rioja Blanco Viura – a fresh, zesty version with a lovely soft mouth feel, and a perfect partner for fish.

A main course of free-range roasted chicken breast served with sweet onions, mushroom, bacon & lentils, and a red wine gravy is perfectly complimented by a glass of Luis Felipe Edwards Reserva Pinot Noir – an expensive and ripe Pinot Noir bursting with redcurrant, strawberry & mulberry fruit.

For dessert, a bitter chocolate tart in a in a sweet chocolate pastry served with salted caramel ice-cream and a blackberry sauce. All washed down with a drop of Domaine Fiumicicoli Muscateddu - a rich, red dessert Muscat with nice, fruity undertones & a crisp dry finish.

If you’ve still got room, the evening draws to a close with a selection of the finest British cheese, served with home-made fruit cake. The final wine of the evening is a Sandeman – perfect with cheese or fruity deserts.

Mr Thomas’s restaurant is fondly known as one of the friendliest places to eat and drink in Manchester.
