This is why we're going to WOOD for our Xmas lunch...
WOOD Manchester on First Street has just unveiled its Christmas menu, and we're happy to say it looks like a winner. (We're going to WOOD for our own Christmas party so we're genuinely excited to see what they'll be serving.)
MasterChef winner Simon Wood and his team have created a simple but elegant menu of classic Christmas dishes which will appeal to traditionalists and foodies alike.
Highlights include the starter of Cranberry cured salmon with brown bread croute and cucumber and tomato concasse. And the main of Roast turkey with fondant potato, baby carrot, shredded sprouts, pigs in blankets, and turkey gravy.
For dessert, choose between Vanilla crème brulee with buttery biscuit, or Chocolate and clementine tart with clotted cream ice cream, or Artisan cheeses with house chutney.
The price (£25 for two-courses or £32 for three-courses) is great value for food of this quality. WOOD is recommended in the 2019 edition of the 'Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland' and it has been awarded two AA rosettes – all within a year of its opening.
And the ambience is perfect for a Christmas party. With soft lighting and luxurious textures, it's stylish but not pretentious – the kind of place you can easily feel relaxed and at home.
We personally can't wait to have our Christmas meal there. If you've not booked yours yet, don't leave it too long. It will be popular.
