WHEN you’re a money-pinching student living from loan-to-loan, 20% off top high street brands could go a very long way. Thankfully then, Manchester Arndale’s popular MCR Student Spring Break shopping event is set to return on Tuesday 19 April with the promise of more discounts.
...remember only students with a valid student ID will be able to bag the full range of bargains.
The shopping event – launched in conjunction with Manchester’s Business Improvement District, the Heart of Manchester BID and UNiDAYs - will see more than 150 city centre stores open their doors late and offer one-night only discounts, exclusively for students. For an extra added bonus there's even beer pong.
And this year the event will be going city-wide with stores across Manchester city centre taking part.
Students will be spoilt for choice on the night with leading high street brands all offering 20% off.
Brands slashing their prices include (deep breath): Aldo, Aspecto, Boux Avenue, Burton, Clarks, Clas Ohlson, Dorothy Perkins, Dr Martens, Foot Asylum, Gap, G-Star Raw, H&M, Henri Lloyd, Jack Wills, Joy, Kurt Geiger, Lipsy, Luke, Miss Selfridge, New Look, Oasis, Office, Pretty Green, River Island, Superdry, Ted Baker, Urban Outfitters, Ugg, USC, Vans and Warehouse.
Notable discounts from the big department stores include Selfridges Exchange Square which will have a live DJ in-store throughout the night alongside up to 20% off selected brands and complimentary gifts with purchase on selected brands across the store. Students spending over £75 will also receive a key to unlock one of five competition boxes full of prizes across the store.
Harvey Nichols will be stocked up with complimentary drinks, as they offer make-up masterclasses and on counter treatments from the best of beauty brands. Manchester’s House of Fraser on Deansgate is also offering 10% off selected brands.
The shopping event will run from 4pm-8pm – but remember, only students with a valid student ID will be able to bag the full range of bargains.
David Allinson, Centre Director at Manchester Arndale said: “We are thrilled to host our Student Spring Break for the fourth year later this month, in collaboration with the BID.
"Our autumn MCR Student Out is always a huge hit with the student community, but the Spring event has now matched the later night in terms of offers. Manchester Arndale has everything in one location for students, in the heart of the city, and we hope that they will enjoy the night of great offers and entertainment.”
As well as discounts on goods, there’ll be music and entertainment on throughout the night. Expect some student revelry on Market Street, as Capital Manchester DJ Adam Brown provides the soundtrack to beach volleyball, giant beer pong and a limbo competition, while some of Manchester’s favourite bars will be hosting activities including The Liar Club’s Tiki Bar, Crazy Pedro’s Beer Pong & Pizza prizes, Black Dog Ballroom’s Big Bruce Selfies and Cane & Grain’s skateboard tricks, alongside lots of freebies and giveaways.
What's more, the lucky students can head to the official MCR Student Spring Break afterparty at DIVE NQ on Tib Street. Pick up a free wristband from the venue or street team for drinks deals and 55% off food.
