MANCHESTER retailers are set for late night shopping in the run up to Eid al-Fitr, with many stores opening until 9pm on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th July.
Last year we saw a significant uplift in sales in the weeks leading up to EID, particularly across men’s formalwear, childrenswear and gifts."
To mark the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, House of Fraser, Debenhams, Next, Boots, Jack Wills and many more across the city's shopping district are encouraging those celebrating Eid to shop for gifts until late - a first for the city centre.
Irvin Grant, owner of Intro clothing on Deansgate, said: "Outside of Christmas, the week before Eid al-Fitr is our busiest time of year. It's a significant time for retail so we're delighted that this year, through the Heart of Manchester BID, both independent and larger retailers are working collectively to open up the city centre for a weekend of late night shopping, promotions and events."
