BACK in September, Merlin Entertainments, announced they will be creating a £6.5 million Sea Life aquarium attraction at TheTrafford Centre.
Guests will be treated to a fully interactive experience where they can hold a crab or touch a starfish in touch pools whilst also being wowed by a range of creatures unseen in the region before, including sharks, rays, seahorses and jellyfish.
Things have moved on. The ‘ground-breaking’ for the new tourist asset for the region will take place on Wednesday 5 December.
The new attraction, which will be the fourteenth Sea Life in the UK, will be situated in a 36,000 square feet site in Barton Square next to Merlin’s Legoland Discovery Centre which opened in March 2009.
Set to open in late Spring 2013, the aquarium will see tanks filled with over 1 million litres of water and feature over 5,000 creatures, 30 spectacular marine displays and an underwater ocean tunnel.
Guests will be treated to a fully interactive experience where they can hold a crab or touch a starfish in touch pools whilst also being wowed by a range of creatures unseen in the region before, including sharks, rays, seahorses and jellyfish.
Aside from being a splendid place to stand and stare at the amazing diversity of the ocean world the centre has a serious side all about education, conservation and rescue - if you've got kids expect school trips. There’ll also be a good deal of breeding go on in those tanks, to help make sure populations of turtles and the like don't become extinct.
Confidential approves. First a nice crowd-pleasing popular culture attraction at the National Football Museum in the city centre, now this at The Trafford Centre. It's good to broaden the tourist offer, drag in the punters.
