Manchester Rum Festival is back after a long hiatus and everything is brand new. New venue, new date, new rums, new number, who dis? The festival is coming to the Mercure Piccadilly Gardens on 28 August, bringing with it over 30 of "the world’s finest rums" including rare, never-before sampled bottles.

The rum industry is definitely in revival mode and rum makers are raising the bar when it comes to quality, sophistication and creativity

After the unfortunate cancellation of the 2020 rumpus, this year’s festival is making up for lost time with a day packed to the gills with all things rum. Attendees will be able to immerse themselves in the spirit (not literally) with educational talks, plenty of tastings and live music as well as food from Mercure.

Which rums will be available at Manchester Rum Festival?

The booze line-up will include expressions from single and multiple distillery producers, with the world’s first dry, spiced Cuban rum a notable highlight. Brands from as far and wide as Venezuela and Lancashire, Jamaica and Salford will be showcasing their bottles with contemporary brands such as Saint Benevolence, AB Gold, Ninefold and Montanya being poured alongside local brands such as Diablesse, Salford Rum, Witch Kings and City of Manchester Distillery. The history of Manchester Rum Festival

Founded five years ago by Manchester spirits expert and bar owner Dave Marsland, the festival is Manchester’s first and only dedicated rum festival. The event was set up not only to bring the world’s finest rums to the city but to highlight the contribution of the North West in the spirit's recent rise in popularity. What does the festival's founder have to say?

Founder Dave Marsland said: “The event has grown in size, attendance and importance every year and I’m so excited we have such fantastic brands exhibiting this year. We’re in talks with more producers so we’ll be adding to the exhibitor list over the coming weeks.

“The rum industry is definitely in revival mode and rum makers are raising the bar when it comes to quality, sophistication and creativity of finished products and serves. It’s amazing that we have so many top-end rum brands and products being launched right here in the North West, and we promise a warm Mancunian welcome to all of our rum producers and guests.”

“Like many events, we have had to postpone and rearrange several times due to the pandemic, so we are thrilled to be able to have a set date and a new venue to bring some much-needed rum fun to the city! What’s more, the space has a huge occupancy, so attendees can enjoy what’s on offer in a substantial space with safety measures firmly in place wherever required.”

The Manchester Rum Festival will take place on Saturday 28 August 2020 at Mercure, Festival Gardens between 12pm and 7pm. Tickets cost £30 plus booking fee and all samples are included. A selection of bottles will be available to buy on the day.
