The market will bring farmers and city dwellers closer together through seasonal, sustainable food

Manchester Farmer’s Market, a new non-profit initiative, has announced the launch of YAN TAN TETHERA; a monthly farmer’s market designed to make seasonal food more accessible while strengthening the connection between local farmers and local people.

The initiative has been arranged by Manchester Urban Diggers, founders of Platt Fields Market Garden and artist Kat Wood, former Creative Director of Where The Light Gets In and Director of The Landing CIC community garden and Track Brewing Co.

A soft launch event will take place on Sunday 30 November at Track Brewery on Piccadilly Trading Estate, with an official launch set for January 2026. From then on, the market will run on every last Sunday of every month.

Manchester Farmer’s Market will showcase the very best small-scale producers from the Peak District, Yorkshire, and the Lake District, offering bread, eggs, honey, fruit and vegetables, meat, and more. Each stallholder has a commitment to sustainable and regenerative farming practices that care for people, animals, and the environment.

Visitors will be able to:

  • Meet the farmers who tend to, sow, cultivate, harvest, mill, and brew the food we eat.
  • Learn the stories behind their produce, its origins, history, and seasonal rhythms.
  • Build lasting relationships with the people who grow and make their food.
  • Support local economies while becoming part of a community-driven alternative food system.

“This is a space where people can connect with farmers directly, make conscious choices about what they eat, and help strengthen a fairer, more sustainable food system in Manchester.” say the organisers of Manchester Farmer’s Market.
