IT’s back again, Manchester Day is here to celebrate all things Mancunian and Manchester in the city centre. This time it's back with a Globefish.

Sunday 22 June will see a parade starting at Liverpool Road wind through the city centre led by the celebrations mascot, Gilly the Globefish.
Hailed as one of the flagship events of the summer for the city centre, the celebrations are now in their fifth year.
Gilly the Globefish is this years Manchester Day parade mascot.
The parade will begin at 1pm with various squares holding festivities between noon and 6pm to celebrate the day. Entertainment will include performances from some of the North West’s most talented musicians and performers, and there will be food available from Guerrilla Eats.
Manchester Day’s mascot, Gilly the Globefish, is currently on a month long tour visiting everywhere and anywhere that shares the Manchester name. Beginning in Brisbane, Australia Gilly will tour all over the world before the homecoming parade in Manchester.
The big parade
The homecoming parade will involve 2,000 participants including many community and volunteer groups from across the city as well as the best works and floats from North West artists.
Councillor Pat Karney, Chair of Manchester Day, commented: "Manchester Day is one of the events that children go mad for each and every year. Thousands of people turn out to see the mother of all parades through the city centre and each year the groups become more ambitious and spectacular."
Councillor Rosa Battle, Manchester City Council’s executive member for culture and leisure, said: "Manchester City Centre is packed with families every year for Manchester Day and it’s the perfect opportunity to get everyone together and celebrate the best our city has to offer. The parade is only part of the fun, however, and the city’s squares will have some of the region’s best entertainers and food on offer."
