IT’S slowly but surely taking over the north, with monthly Makers Markets across seven venues. Now, the award-winning artisanal event will host its eighth opening in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on Sunday 8 November.

True to traditional format, produce will be local through and through, with NQ retailers and Manchester Council collaborating with organisers to curate an entirely homespun occasion. Visitors can expect the very finest in food, drink, art, design and vintage goods; along with music, performance and exclusive shopping aplenty.

Speaking of which...

Make yours a home sweet home with Faith in Fabric’s beautiful upholstered furniture. Love a statement? Think Controversial Art, Manchester Mosaics and Oliver Kersh’s photofusions. Alternatively, put your fashion foot forward with Jabio’s unique pieces, indulge your inner child with Gizmobots’ retro robots or get crafty with Loose Buttons and Northern Letters typography.

Food-wise, sourpusses can tuck into posh tarts from Sillis Dirty Desserts whilst MCR Cheesecakes should satisfy sugary cravings. The sweet-toothed will also appreciate macarons, courtesy of Baked With Love. Feeling fruity? Orange Organic is on hand with fresh fruit and veg. Or cheesy perhaps? Then head to Burt's Blues for award-winning dairy treats, teamed with FatJax’s acclaimed chutney. And, for something a little meatier, Butchers Quarters and Orchard House have you covered. Afterwards, wash it all down with the thirst-quenching likes of Koffee Pot and Wood and Wine Bar.

Aiding the lively launch will be Manchester graffiti artist kELzO, who gained notoriety after turning the inner city area of Hulme into one of the biggest outdoor galleries in Europe. Since being part of the UK eighties hip hop youth movement, the graffitist has been published widely and regularly creates set designs for the BBC. He's now preparing an in-depth retrospective, additionally to developing a new series of canvasses.

B-Twist Studios will also be performing so get ready for a medley of street styles including breakdancing, martial arts and hip-hop.

What’s a market launch without some top tunes to browse to? Cue a band of local musicians, including satirical singer-songwriter Chris Tavener.

Victoria Jackson, event manager for the Makers Market, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Manchester City Council and the Northern Quarter retailers on this event. It is a privilege to bring together a fabulous mix of creative and food talent which complements the Northern Quarter current offerings, and with the great music performers and street artists joining us our launch on 8 November is set to be a great day for the area”.

The event will run 11am - 5pm on Stevenson Square, Sunday 8 November. More info at themakersmarket.co.uk
