GOING day into night is a skill only some possess, but brand-new Banyan Spinningfields is one of them – and it looks as if it’s going to give The Ivy a run for its money when that opens soon slap bang opposite. Billed as “a stylish and genuine bar serving beautiful food and drink all day, all night”, Banyan is open every day from 10am until late, dishing up breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and dancing all week long.

Whether it’s a bite to eat against a beautiful backdrop, a classic cocktail in classy surroundings or a stylish excuse to stay out late, we reckon you can’t go far wrong heading to the brand-new Banyan (Manchester’s second, joining a sister venue in the Corn Exchange hub of eating and drinking).

Beautiful, classy, stylish. The purpose-built Banyan Spinningfields is split over two levels, with a mezzanine primed for people-watching. Surrounded by the area’s glass-fronted edifices reflecting redbrick heritage, sleek and chic is where it’s at. Mirrored and marble surfaces, muted blues and greens on the walls, rose gold and brass fittings, fixtures from bar stools and swivel chairs to booths and banquettes: Banyan gives you luxe looks without standing on ceremony.

Cocktails and mocktails are the order of the day, starting with the Garibaldi – a staple breakfast cocktail at NYC’s renowned Dante Bar – and a morning pick-me-up Bloody Mary, and running right through to the wee small hours, when the Bourbon-based Sinatra Select is perfect and the Nordic Iced Tea sounds suitably winter wonderland for this time of year. The Gin Paradise menu does what it says, and the wine list and beer offer will both take you on a round-the-world trip.

If it’s bubbles you’re after, look no further than Fizz Thursday & Friday, when you can enjoya light Italian Prosecco for just £20 a bottle, or take Deluxe Afternoon Tea, which givesyou 90 minutes of free-flow Prosecco alongside your dainty sandwiches, scones and sweet treats.

Another way to while away a lazy afternoon is on Sunday, when Bottomless Sunday Roasts are served, with Yorkshire puddings apparently worth the trip alone. The rest of the week, there’s plenty of choice, from healthful options including the yoga powerbowl and crispy duck and watermelon salad, to perfect plates of cold comfort, like steak and ale pie and bangers and mash. There’s a special set midday menu and a Dinner Club offer, and we’ve teamed up with Banyan Spinningfields to give you even more savings – download the new Confidentials app and check out our special voucher offer: £25-worth of food and drink for just £12.50. How’s that for a stamp of approval?
