As travel chaos continues at Manchester Airport, Liverpool thinks it has the answer

Passengers from Liverpool can easily connect through Frankfurt to destinations including New York, Orlando, Dubai and Singapore.
Manchester has long been seen as the international airport of choice for the North of England but the launch of a new Lufthansa service from John Lennon Airport has got Liverpool looking pretty fly.
The launch of Lufthansa’s new route from LJLA to Frankfurt signals the return of global connectivity for the airport and Liverpool City Region for the first time in over 10 years. The new service is an important addition to the airport's list of destinations, with passengers able to check in at Liverpool and connect onwards with Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners to a host of global destinations via their main hub in Frankfurt.
It’s the first time in 66 years that Lufthansa has flown from Liverpool. The fleet, comprising the Airbus A320 or Bombardier CRJ900, connects passengers with 150 onward connections across the globe.
Flights between Liverpool and Frankfurt run four days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) and with a flight time of one hour and 45 minutes, transferring passengers from Liverpool can easily connect through Frankfurt to destinations including New York, Orlando, Dubai and Singapore.
As the travel sector continues its recovery from COVID-19, Liverpool John Lennon Airport has invested £2m in airport facilities, including more food and drink options from Greggs, Upper Crust, Frankie & Benny’s and Ritazza, as well as new shops from JD Sport, WHSmith, Traveller and Marks & Spencer. Liverpool Airport is keen to impress and has introduced a new Meet & Greet valet parking facility, adding to its existing short stay, long stay, fast track and express pick-up/drop-off options - just like Manchester.
Liverpool's new Lufthansa route is a big win for the tourism industry across Liverpool City Region and North Wales; many worked closely with Liverpool airport over the years to help attract the German airline to Speke. But airport bosses are also keen to sell the benefits of LJLA to those who live and work in the Greater Manchester area, as well as Leeds, Blackpool and even the Midlands.
As well as being able to fly to a host of global destinations via Lufthansa’s connections at Frankfurt, there could be other advantages to flying from Liverpool. While chaotic scenes of long queues and delays at Manchester Airport have been making headlines, Liverpool has performed better according to data from the Civil Aviation Authority.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport says it’s continuing to build on its faster, easier, friendlier passenger experience, pointing to the “many well known benefits of flying from Liverpool, with its lack of queues, reduced security processing times and one of the best on-time departure records of any UK airport.”
When booking a flight, travellers must weigh up a myriad of factors including the cost of seats and baggage allowance, transport connections and airline performance, all to try and secure the best deal. We can't quite picture Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Liverpool on a Lufthansa CRJ900, but you never know - stranger things have happened.
