Outside the capital, they have restaurants in Oxford, Birmingham and at East Midlands Airport. The only LEON currently outside the UK is at Schiphol airport near Amsterdam, but the company has recently announced plans to open 50 more branches across the country.
LEON’s award winning concept was inspired by a desire to create fast food options that weren’t unhealthy; “We opened LEON because we wanted to prove that it was possible to serve food that both tastes good and does you good,” says their website. “We want to make it easy for people to eat well on the high street. We want to do this in every major city in the world.”
The menu focuses on nutrition, careful sourcing and sustainability. As founding member of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, they help restaurants become more responsible for the way they source their ingredients, engage with their local community and manage their impact on the environment. All their meat is British – apart from Spanish chorizo, eggs are free range, coffee and milk is organic.
They will serve a range of all day options for various dietary needs including vegan, gluten free, dairy free, high protein or low fat. A breakdown of nutritional value, allergens and GI index is supplied for all dishes. Healthy breakfasts include power smoothies or salmon and avocado egg pot (148 calories), full English pot (410 calories), Halloumi muffin (423 calories) or ‘Porridge of the gods’ (441 calories).
