KIKI'S opened its doors for its soft launch last Thursday. It's the new private member's club from John Locke of The Northern and The Commercial in Chester, and if opening night was anything to go by, it's going to fill a gap in the city's night scene.
Described as 'a grown-up club for those that grew up clubbing', there was a sense of shared appreciation for Hacienda-era Manchester's at the opening party.
Located in Parsonage Gardens and set over two floors, the club has two bars, a dance floor and an open stage for live performances. It's large enough to accommodate a decent-sized crowd but intimate enough to honour its 'members only' title.
Proper music and proper entertainment was the theme of the night, kicked off by flamboyant cabaret host Jonathan Mayor, and followed by music from Mr Wes Propman and Meand Deboe. Sexy burlesque dancer Cherie Bebe was the final act (Gordo's regretting his decision to stay at home "with the flu").
