NOW eight months into this twelve month process and on brace number 17 of 24, the results are already plain to see. Just look at the distance of my overjet and overbite gap in the image below. It’s astonishing.

Here’s a little recap on what Invisalign is and why Dr Kumar at Smile Stylist is the man with a plan for your teeth, no matter how crooked they are...

Dr Kumar is an Invisalign Diamond certified dentist with a wealth of experience in treating orthodontic patients. He can get you the smile you have always wanted with the incredible Invisalign brace system, which has taken the world by storm for the following reasons

- Invisalign is cosmetically popular as it is invisible, ensuring people will not even be able to see that you are wearing braces

- Invisalign suits your lifestyle. It is removable, allowing you to drink and eat with comfort, as well as maintaining oral health without the issues associated with fixed braces

- Invisalign is designed with comfort in mind. There’s no metal or wires that require adjusting, with the specially made aligners providing optimal comfort

- Invisalign allows you to see how your smile will look after treatment before you even start to wear the aligners – thanks to the innovative virtual treatment plan.

- The aligners are designed to fit your way of life and enable you to look your best and feel confident, both during and following treatment.

- The total treatment time varies according to the individual, but it is usually between 9 and 15 months.

Looking at my teeth every day, it’s been hard to keep track of the progress because it’s very subtle each month. However, it was when I was taking an allergy tablet a week ago that it really hit me. Once upon a time I’d have been able to slot the tablet through clenched teeth because my gap was that large. But now it just doesn’t fit through anymore. With four months to go, it will be interesting to see how this gap closes completely.

From when I first got my Invisalign fitted, the time has flown which goes to show how easily Invisalign becomes part of your daily routine.

I have noticed I brush my teeth more of late but you have to remember I also have little attachments on my front teeth to help the Invisalign to grip on. While my teeth aren’t obviously dirty, they are more susceptible to staining and trapped food due to having the attachments. As recommended by one of our Youtube followers, I now also keep a toothbrush at work to help with this.

My next visit to Dr Kumar is now due and it’s been eight weeks this time due to holidays so my teeth are due a good filing. The filing between teeth is really important as it creates just enough space for my teeth to move into. You can see a photo of Dr Kumar filing between my teeth below. It doesn’t look particularly comfortable but it’s not painful at all.

Wearing Invisalign at all times when you’re not eating is probably what I found most difficult at the beginning of this process, but with the end in sight I’m really making a conscious effort to make sure I hit my daily target of wearing it for around 22 hours per day.

Every time I put on a brand new Invisalign that feeling of tightness in my mouth is both a pleasure and pain. It may be a bit uncomfortable to start as your teeth are being pushed slowly in place, but that slight pain is also a sign of progression which keeps me smiling...
