WE recently caught up with Adio Marchant, the Manchester musician behind Bipolar Sunshine, at Bose's 'Urban Conductor' event outside Great Northern this month.
'I feel like the sticking point is my voice, the style of the music is secondary to me, as long as it sounds like the kind of music I'd vibe to then I can work with it.'
Following a hectic summer playing their biggest festival sets to date Bipolar Sunshine are putting the finishing touches to their highly anticipated debut album. Clearly excited about the forthcoming album and the band's plans for next year, Adio talks Manchester, America and dreams of working with Alex Turner:
On Bipolar Sunshine's busy summer:
'Glastonbury was a highlight, just the whole thing of playing Glastonbury is such a big deal especially with such a big crowd. The album is nearly done and ready for next year. When we tour [in March] I can play songs that are actually gonna be on the album rather than songs that might be on the album.'
On America and Manchester:
'We'll be heading for America for a little bit too. I've been invited over to do some writing so I'm looking forward to being able to play over there. So much of our Soundcloud following are American. I think we'll put out a four track EP out there and then the album. I want to be part of Manchester but right now I'm London because that's where I need to be.'
On who he'd like to work with:
'Alex Turner, he's a sick guy, it's hard to say what's possible and impossible. Some are possible just by making a quick phone call but that all depends. I couldn't just ring up Bowie. Imagine if that did happen...'
Performing at Great Northern
On being involved with Bose's Urban Conductor:
'It's great with the set up that the audience have a new way to connect with the music, whilst the track is playing the audience gets to mix it themselves. It's great they've allowed me to get involved and to come back and play in Manchester again... any excuse. I love it here, I love it.'
On plans between now and the album release:
'Rehearsing, recording, Jazz Purple who plays guitar for me is writing his solo stuff as well so I'm getting involved with that and others. I like to keep myself busy and get involved with other people's projects.
'With the album, there'll be some older tracks, not all of them. There are certain songs that I feel are key and I think it's important to use the ones that show where I'm coming from.
