WELL, this has taken us by surprise. Not the fact that Indian Tiffin Room in Cheadle was voted third best Indian restaurant in the country, but the fact that TripAdvisor were on the money for once.

That ITR's original menu and tantalising dishes should win acclaim is only right and proper. One taste of their moreish vada pav or the Mirch Shakaranda made with authentic Shimla chillies and you'll understand.
After a recent debacle, you may want to take this TripAdvisor ranking with a pinch of salt, a handful of garam masala and whatever else comes to hand. When a restaurant comes out top in Manchester only three days after opening, the integrity of lists, top tens and so forth is called into question.
Particularly when many of the gushing reviews seem to come from diners who have never posted previously. Who knows, maybe it's just the enthusiasm of the converted?
You can take our word for it though, the food at ITR leaves other so-called street food specialists looking like a pale imitation of the real thing. The idly with the spicy sambar and the crisp mysore bonda aren't the sort of dishes you can get everywhere – this is the real taste of India.
If you can't trust Confidential, who can you trust? Well we would say that, wouldn't we, but the TripAdvsor reviews of Indian Tiffin Room contain a healthy smattering of postings from level 5 reviewers. These people know their onions. And their chutneys.
ITR is not a flash in the pan. It's been steadily building a reputation for great Indian food since it opened in 2013. The team at Indian Tiffin Room have really worked for this and they deserve the recognition.
So for once, our tongue is not in our cheek when we say, 'Congratulations Indian Tiffin Room on your Top 3 National TripAdvisor ranking'. This is the real deal.
