MAN Booker Prize winning author and broadcaster, Howard Jacobson, will be talking at the Jewish Museum on Sunday 16th December at 7.30pm.
In 2010 he won the Man Booker Prize for his novel The Finkler Question. His new novel Zoo Time was released this year - he will be signing copies in the museum as well as speaking.
Jewish MuseumHe will be talking about his life and the impact Manchester has had on his career, most notably in novels such as The Mighty Walzer and Kalooki Nights.Jacobson was born in Manchester in 1942, raised in Prestwich and educated in Whitefield.
His first novel, Coming from Behind (1983), was inspired by his teaching at Wolverhampton Polytechnic in the 1970s.
His subsequent novels include Peeping Tom (1984), The Very Model of a Man (1992), No More Mister Nice Guy (1998) and The Mighty Walzer (1999). His 2002 novel Who's Sorry Now? and his 2006 novel Kalooki Nights were longlisted for the Man Booker Prize.

Jacobson's talk coincides with the last week of an exhibition on Jewish Sport.
As such he will also be talking about his table tennis days in Manchester's Jewish youth clubs and how this inspired his novel, The Mighty Walzer.
