Adoption Counts turns five
Since its launch 5 years ago, Adoption Counts has approved over 440 adopters. So that’s a happy birthday to them. It’s also a happy birthday, an unforgettable summer holiday, a memorable Christmas or a special Eid and many more joyous family occasions and celebrations for the children and the adoptive parents for whom Adoption Counts has worked its magic.
Adoption Counts is a Regional Adoption Agency. In 2017, the agency brought together the professional expertise and specialist skills of five local authorities from across Greater Manchester and Cheshire to create Adoption Counts and raise the bar for adoption services.
Because Adoption Counts works with families in and around the Local Authorities of Cheshire East, Manchester, Salford, Stockport and Trafford, the scale of the organisation means that it can forge better matches between parents and children, to create relationships that last. Enquiries are welcomed from in and around the region – that could be you.

Adoption Counts is reaching out for people who will consider adopting children aged three years and above, sibling groups, children from a minority ethnic background (particularly from Black African and Black Caribbean communities) and children with complex needs. Children from these groups represent 65% of all those waiting to be adopted, and they also wait the longest to find a family to love them with many facing year-long delays.
Choosing to adopt is one of the biggest decisions you will make in your life. Like all routes to parenthood, of course there will be challenges along the way - everyday life isn’t all laughter, birthday parties and sports days.
