GREENGATE Urban Market, at the border of Salford and Manchester, opens for the first time on Saturday (10am-5pm) and Sunday (12pm-5pm), August 24-25.
The market, which will be held on the last weekend of every month, will host more than 30 specially-selected artisan stalls offering gourmet expertise and creations - including The Bread Fairy (see top image).
Food fans will also be treated to a roster of local musicians – put together by Salford Music Festival director Ed Blaney.
Salford Women’s Institute will be showcasing their activities and there will be plenty for children too, including face painting, a street artist and a balloon modeller.
Salford’s Assistant Mayor for Culture and Leisure, Councillor Ann-Marie Humphreys, said: “The Greengate Urban Market will be a melting pot for food lovers. Greengate Square is the perfect place to hold a market like this. It’s a unique area but a historic one – and I’m sure the food will match that reputation.”
