Boozy weekend blowout pulls together top names from the city's food, drink and music scene
Ever wanted to throw a clay pot in an abandoned railway arch while bopping to Motown slurping on an apricot IPA and nibbling away at a summer caponata... who bloody hasn't?
Good job then that the 'cream' of Manchester’s food, drink, craft and music scene are to tear-arse to the Fairfield Social Club on Temperance Street this Saturday (Aug 4, 1pm-11pm) for Full Fat - a one-day extravaganza of, well, food, drink, craft and music.
Over a dozen of the north's best breweries are getting involved - including Beatniks Republic, Cloudwater, Magic Rock, Track and Wander Beyond - alongside a natural wine bar run by the folks behind Wines Under The Bonnet and Love + Labour.
Some of the city's finest food talent, including Pollen Bakery, La Cucina (by Honest Crust pizzas), and ChouChoux Patisserie will be on hand to provide the nosh, with the soundtrack provided by DJs such as Duncan Sime, Joe Bird and Jeff O'Toole, plus funk 'n' soul club night, Howling Rhythm.
What else? Oh, there will also be a handful of workshops throughout the day/night, including clay jewellery making by Aliyah Hussain and pottery throwing with PlantNOMA’s king of the wheel, Joe Hartley (both are running on a pay-as-you-feel donation basis - but classes usually cost £25 so don't be tight).
The free event is being put together by the friends and family of John-Paul 'JP' Cassidy - a much-loved local craft beer champion and fashion forerunner who passed away in April, aged 37, following a tragic car accident.
The fundraiser aims to celebrate the things JP enjoyed and raise money for two fantastic causes on his behalf: Keep Our NHS Public and Headway (more info below)... so go down and give them some money.
Full Fat, Fairfield Social Club, Temperance Street, M12 6HR - Saturday 4 August, 1pm to 11pm - details on their Facebook page here.
The charities
Greater Manchester Keep Our NHS Public
The NHS recently turned 70, and this group will keep fighting its corner for many more birthdays to come. KONP is a group of local campaigners who want a publicly provided NHS, free from profit and privatisation.
Headway - The brain injury association
This incredible charity works with those afflicted with brain injuries. The support they provide to both those who have suffered injury and to their families is invaluable.
